ICA-Africa appoints Dr. Rose Karimi as new Regional Director

The International Cooperative Alliance – Africa (ICA-Africa) has announced the appointment of Dr. Rose Karimi from Kenya as its new Regional Director.

Dr Karimi is a former Cooperative Advisor at HealthPartners International Development.

In her acceptance statement Dr Kirimi said her focus will be on empowering people, strengthening data and visibility, amplifying advocacy, securing sustainable finance, and preparing the Cooperative movement for the future.

“I am honored to join ICA-Africa as Regional Director at a time when cooperatives are poised to lead transformative change across Africa,” she said.

She called for collaborations to drive inclusive growth, deepen partnerships, and position African cooperatives as powerful agents of social and economic transformation.

With her wealth of experience and passion for people-centred development, Dr. Karimi is well-positioned to lead ICA-Africa into its next chapter, upholding its mission to promote a dynamic and inclusive cooperative movement through shared resources.

ICA is a non-governmental Cooperative Federation representing the Cooperative Movement worldwide.

It unites cooperatives worldwide and is the custodian of Cooperative values and principles.

International Cooperative Alliance-Africa (ICA-Africa) is one of the four regional offices of ICA that serves, unites and represents ICA member organizations in Africa by promoting and strengthening autonomous and viable cooperatives through capacity building and policy advocacy for the socio-economic benefit of its members.
