Govt disburses Ksh 20.1Million Uwezo fund , Youth fund in Shinyalu

The National Government has disbursed Ksh 20.1Million Uwezo and Youth Fund cheques to various self-help groups in Shinyalu Constituency in a bid to eradicate poverty.

A total of Ksh.20.1 Million Uwezo and Youth Fund Cheques  has been disbursed to women, PWD and youth groups in  Shinyalu Constituency.

The funds will assist members access funds to engage and expand businesses creating improved livelihoods among women,youth and People Living With Disabilities, (PWDs)

This comes after the Cabinet Secretary for Cooperatives, Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Wycliffe Oparanya launched a sensitization programme on youth fund, women enterprise fund,  Uwezo fund in Shinyalu and encouraged the need to ensure appropriate use and timely repayment of the funds.

The sensitization was held to enlighten the constituents on the funds, which are available for borrowing to support enterprises and boost economic development.

Oparanya stated that traders in  various parts of the country borrow the funds on weekly basis, however decried on the low turnout on loans borrowing in Kakamega, alluding that lack of civic education is the root cause.

“I was in Navakholo 2 weeks ago and held the same sensitization forum have come in Shinyalu working in partnership with MP Ikana to improve the programme.” Noted Oparanya

CS Oparanya pledged unwavering support to the self-help groups which ventured into income generating activities such as bee keeping, poultry and table banking, saying that his main agenda was to create impact to the groups by elaborating facts, acquiring knowledge in a bid to eradicate poverty

He urged the public to form groups for easy registration exercise disclosing that Uwezo fund offices are functional in all the 47 counties enabling them to proceed in Micro Small and Medium Enterprises Authority (MSEA).
