Kenya is set to host the 8th African Association of Agricultural Economists (AAAE) Conference in Nairobi from September 21 to 26.
The conference themed “Smart Agriculture: Innovation, Digital Transformation, and Trade for a Climate-Challenged Africa”, comes at a crucial time as technology, data, and strategic partnerships are reshaping the continent’s agricultural sector.
Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture, Mutahi Kagwe, congratulated the local organizing committee and reaffirmed the government’s support. He emphasized the need for stronger collaboration between academia, policymakers, and practitioners to address climate challenges and enhance the productivity of smallholder farmers.
The conference will highlight how smart agriculture innovations, including IoT sensors, satellite monitoring, artificial intelligence, and data analytics, are transforming farming by optimizing resources, boosting yields, and reducing environmental impact amid climate variability.
AAAE, a professional society of over 3,000 agricultural economists and development experts, promotes knowledge exchange, policy research, and professional development. Its journal, the African Journal of Agricultural and Resource Economics (AfJARE), publishes cutting-edge research on food security, climate resilience, and sustainable resource management.
