Ports Deposit Taking Savings and Credit Cooperative Organization (DT SACCO) has announced an exciting opportunity for qualified professionals to join their team as an Internal Audit Officer.
This critical role will play a key part in supporting the Sacco’s internal audit function, with responsibilities focused on evaluating internal controls, ensuring compliance, and strengthening operational efficiency.
The Internal Audit Officer will be responsible for conducting financial, operational, and compliance audits in line with the Sacco’s approved audit plans.
This includes evaluating the effectiveness of internal controls, risk management, and governance processes to ensure the organization’s activities align with established policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
Key duties include reviewing financial records and operational procedures, assessing the loan appraisal and credit administration processes, and ensuring compliance with Sacco policies, SASRA regulations, and statutory requirements. The role also involves conducting departmental audits, investigating potential fraud, and preparing audit reports with findings and recommendations for corrective actions.

To be considered for the position, candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, information systems, or a related field.
Additionally, professional certifications such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA-K), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), and other relevant qualifications like Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) are mandatory or highly preferred.
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of three years of experience, ideally in a financial institution or Sacco environment. Strong analytical skills, proficiency in audit practices, and an understanding of Sacco operations are essential, alongside a high level of integrity and confidentiality.
