Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi has reiterated the government’s commitment to empowering women-led small and medium enterprises (SMEs), emphasizing their critical role in driving poverty reduction and economic growth.
Speaking during a women empowerment forum at Ndiru Primary School in Homa Bay Town Constituency on Friday, June 26, 2026, Mbadi underscored the importance of women in entrepreneurship and investment, noting their significant contribution to economic resilience.
“Across the world, women have consistently proven to be the leading force in poverty eradication. Their reinvestment in communities and households channels millions back into the economy,” Mbadi stated.
The event brought together women entrepreneurs from across the constituency for a programme designed to enhance business growth, financial inclusion, and entrepreneurial skills.
It forms part of broader government initiatives to strengthen micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), which remain central to job creation and national development.
