Saccos across Kenya have launched customer appreciation campaigns to mark Customer Service Week, as the sector faces stiffer competition from digital lenders and traditional retail banks.

Data from the Sacco Societies Regulatory Authority (SASRA) shows that regulated deposits have climbed past Ksh896 billion. Mwalimu National DT Sacco leads with Ksh56.51 billion in member savings, followed by Stima DT Sacco at Ksh52.19 billion.

To keep those deposits, societies are using the week to push digital services. Kenya National Police DT Sacco and Harambee DT Sacco have mobilised their branch networks to handle member complaints and promote self service apps, while Imarisha Sacco is also taking part in the week’s activities.

Regional players are equally active. Ndege Chai Sacco and Kenya Highlands Sacco are running service campaigns in tea growing areas, while Setyon DT Sacco in the Rift Valley is focusing on grassroots member inclusion. In Central Kenya, Newfortis Sacco and Tower Sacco are drawing on their strong returns to attract new accounts. Meanwhile, Ufanisi Sacco is using digital channels to reactivate dormant members.
