Bandari DT Sacco has emerged as the recipient of two prestigious accolades at the recently concluded Mombasa Business Awards held last weekend.
The Sacco was honoured with the esteemed title of “Best Sacco of the Year” and has also been recognized as “The Most Preferred Micro Finance Institution.”
The fast-growing Sacco has an asset base of Sh.11 billion and boasts a membership exceeding 18,000 individuals.
Bandari Sacco, previously known as Harbours Workers Sacco, was established in 1975 by 20 members of the East African Harbours and Railways Corporation.
At its founding, its main purpose was to provide assistance to members during difficult times and to transport deceased relatives to remote rural areas for burial, but it has since opened its membership to all.
With the objective of enhancing the financial stability and overall welfare of its members, the SACCO actively encourages thrift and offers credit services at competitive interest rates.
Since 2013, the Mombasa Business Award, a prestigious recognition in Kenya, has been honouring entrepreneurs from all sectors of the economy, celebrating innovators, success stories, and ethical entrepreneurs in Kenya.
This year’s Grand Awards Gala Dinner was graced by the area Governor
who praised the initiative, saying it has provided an exclusive platform for entrepreneurs to come together, exchange insights, build networks, and showcase what they offer.
