The 3rd Co-operative Movement Stakeholders’ Annual Conference and the 8th CUK Annual Scientific Conference 2025 will be held on 22nd July and 23 July in Naivasha.
The conference is organized by The Co-operative University of Kenya (CUK), The State Department of Cooperatives (SDC) and Moshi Co-operative University (MoCU) Tanzania.
Together with SDC, MoCU the CUK have organized the continental co-operative discourse that is closely aligned with the IYC2025 objectives.
The meeting will infuse scholarly and practical acumen in exploring the theme “Co-operatives Build a Better World: Re-energizing the collective power of co-operatives in Africa”, and the broad thematic areas of historical perspectives of co-operatives and contemporary applications; innovation and the future of co-operatives; global challenges and sustainable co-operative solutions; and climate change.
The conference comes at a time when the global co-operative movement is celebrating the International Year of Cooperatives (IYC2025) as proclaimed by the United Nations. IYC2025 is guided by the theme “Cooperatives Build a Better World.”

The IYC 2025 seeks to highlight the global impact of co-operatives in championing socio-economic transformation and recognizing them as key drivers of achieving the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The Second Co-operative Movement Stakeholders’ Annual Conference and the Platform Cooperativism Conference 2024 five-day Conference presented a unique touch to co-operatives with discussions and deliberations geared towards promoting the adoption of digital technologies in co-operative sector operations.
Cognizant of the global shift towards digitalization, information technology, and vast changes associated with technological dynamics, the co-operative movement enthusiasts at the Conference congregated at Sorova Whitesands Beach Resort in Mombasa County between Monday, 4th November 2024 and Friday, 8th November 2024, to chart a way forward in the race to transform the sector.
