Members of the KUSCCO Housing Cooperative Society have sharply criticized the Commissioner for Cooperative Development over what they termed as deliberate delays in endorsing the society’s rebranding process.
Led by their chairman, Joseph Mukumi, the members said the society fulfilled all the required conditions for rebranding several months ago, but the Commissioner has yet to respond positively.
Speaking during a Nairobi regional meeting held in Nairobi, Mukumi expressed concern that the continued inaction is frustrating the society’s progress and undermining its strategic objectives.
“We met all the requirements as stipulated, but the lack of feedback and approval is now affecting our plans. This delay is unnecessary and is holding back our growth,” he said.

Members argued that the prolonged delay has stalled the implementation of key components of their strategic plan, which was expected to reposition the society and enhance service delivery to its members.
In addition to the rebranding impasse, the members also raised concerns over the delay in the release of an inquiry report into the society’s operations. They questioned why the findings have not been made public, noting that transparency is critical for restoring confidence among stakeholders.
Despite the setbacks, the members maintained that the society remains stable and resilient.
“Our society is strong and ready to move forward. What we need is timely support and action from the relevant authorities,” one member said.
The Commissioner for Cooperative Development had not responded to the concerns by the time of going to press.
