- New graders are being deployed across Machakos to improve road access
- Residents urged to support road demarcation and opening of access routes
- Several market centres are set to benefit from a land titling programme
Machakos County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Roads, Transport, Housing and Lands, Nathaniel Nganga, says the 13 newly procured road graders by the County government of Machakos are currently being used to improve the road network across the county.
Speaking at Thinu in Kathiani Sub-county on Friday during a development tour led by Governor Wavinya Ndeti, Nganga asked residents to adhere to surveyors’ instructions regarding road demarcation. He also asked them to give way where necessary to enable smooth movement and the opening of access roads.
He said Governor Wavinya Ndeti’s administration has employed surveyors and physical planners to streamline land and infrastructure services.

Nganga urged residents with land disputes to seek assistance from officers at the Lands office to avoid lengthy court cases.
“Those with land issues should visit our officers at the Lands office. We can resolve many of these matters without going to court,” he said.
The CECM added that markets such as Ngiini, Mitaboni, Mumbuni and Ngoleni, which had no title deeds in the 1990s, will soon get titles. He noted that the Governor has a plan to process allotment letters and title deeds for landowners.
He said the titling programme will secure land tenure for shopowners and residents and spur development in the market centres.
