Machakos County has been recognized by Bajeti Hub for its commitment to transparency, accountability, and sound public financial management in the 2025 County Budget Transparency Survey.
This is the Second time the County is being recognized for budget transparency. The county was ranked 9th nationally among Kenya’s top-performing counties, with an index score of 74 in the CBTS 2025 report. This marks steady improvement from a score of 33 in 2021 and 47 in 2022, according to data released by Bajeti Hub.
Machakos also attained a 100% score in the 2023/2024 County Budget Review and Outlook Paper. Bajeti Hub awarded the county a Certificate of Award on 4 June, 2026 for publishing the most comprehensive County Budget Review and Outlook Paper in the survey.

Commenting on the award, Governor Wavinya Ndeti said the achievement reflects the county’s dedication to open governance, prudent use of public resources, and meaningful public participation in development.

She thanked Bajeti Hub for the recognition and reaffirmed her administration’s commitment to ensuring every public resource delivers value to citizens through improved service delivery and sustainable development.
Makueni County topped the 2025 CBTS ranking with a score of 89, followed by Nyeri at 88 and Nakuru at 87. The survey assesses how counties publish and make budget documents accessible to the public.
