- County urges more youth to join community groups
Three community groups in Mtito Andei have received business equipment from the Makueni County Government to support income-generating activities and strengthen small enterprises.
The groups received the equipment under the Department of Gender, Children, Youth, Sports and Social Services as part of the county’s efforts to promote youth economic empowerment and improve livelihoods.
Two of the groups were presented with public address systems, while the third received an air compressor. The equipment is expected to enable the beneficiaries to expand their enterprises, increase their income and create sustainable sources of livelihood.
Commissioning the equipment, County Executive Committee Member for Gender, Children, Youth, Sports and Social Services, Sebastian Kyoni, urged the beneficiaries to use the equipment productively and ensure it contributes to the growth of their businesses.

Kyoni said the support was intended to provide young people and community groups with productive assets that can help them establish or strengthen enterprises.
Chief Officer Nicolis Mutua and area Member of the County Assembly (MCA) Francis Mulwa encouraged more young people to form and join community groups so they can benefit from government programmes aimed at promoting entrepreneurship and economic empowerment.
They also urged youth groups to take advantage of opportunities provided through initiatives such as the Makueni County Empowerment Fund to access support for their businesses.
The equipment forms part of the county government’s broader efforts to promote youth participation in economic activities and strengthen grassroots enterprises across Makueni County.
The initiative is expected to help beneficiaries improve their businesses, increase household incomes and contribute to local economic development.
