Mwananchi Credit dismisses claims of financial strain, says operations stable

Mwananchi credit LTD offices

Mwananchi Credit has dismissed claims that it is facing financial difficulties or delaying staff salaries, asserting that the microfinance lender remains stable and on a growth path. In a statement from senior management, the company said all employee salaries have been settled in full and described reports to the contrary as misleading.

“The truth is that no staff member has gone unpaid. All salaries have been settled, and the company is in a healthy financial position,” the statement read, adding that operations are normal and open to public scrutiny. “We operate transparently, and anyone is free to visit our offices and verify that operations are normal.”

The firm noted it has issued bonuses to high‑performing and long‑serving employees, underscoring its commitment to staff welfare and motivation. It clarified that payments for a small number of employees currently undergoing disciplinary or administrative processes have been temporarily withheld in line with internal human resource procedures.

Mwananchi Credit raised concerns over what it termed repeated, targeted allegations from the same blogger, characterizing the claims as a deliberate attempt to damage its reputation.

“These allegations keep coming from the same source and follow the same narrative. This appears to be a calculated witch‑hunt,” the company stated. “Regardless of such claims, Mwananchi Credit remains focused on growth and service delivery. No amount of negative publicity will derail our operations.”
