Offer financial assistance to coffee farmers, banks urged

SACCO

Dr Philip Munyao, a doctor in Matungulu constituency, has asked banks and micro -finance  institutions  to come up with schemes to motivate coffee growers in the region.

Dr Munyao asked the financial institutions to train farmers on investment opportunities, saying that if there were regular forum organized by the finance institutions, the interactions would enlighten farmers on the crops to interplant with coffee or on alternative crops.

”The farmers also need motivation and training on how to embrace the saving culture,” Dr Munyao.

He also called on farmers to form common interest groups through which they can seek assistance from financial institutions.

“It’s easier for financial institutions to lend to registered groups,” he explained, adding that the

government has allocated funds to the Women Enterprise Fund and Uwezo Fund for the development of such farmers.
