Diaspora Affairs Principal Secretary Rosalyn Njogu has unveiled a football tournament dubbed Kazi Majuu, aimed at sensitizing young people on job opportunities available both locally and abroad.
Speaking at Mitooni Primary School in Buuri Constituency, Meru County, Njogu said the government is committed to ensuring youth are informed about employment prospects, noting that more than 530,000 young people have benefited from the Kazi Majuu program in the past three years. She urged beneficiaries to embrace and support the initiative to access government funding.
“I urge the youth to embrace the program because it has a lot of benefits both locally and abroad. Kazi Majuu, which literally means job opportunities abroad, will allow the youth to exchange ideas, acquire skills, and abstain from drug and substance abuse,” she said.
The tournament, which has attracted about 60 teams from Buuri sub-county, is designed to combine talent development with awareness creation. Winners will be awarded football kits and balls, while participants engage in discussions on safe migration and employment opportunities.

Njogu emphasized that the initiative has the full backing of President William Ruto and revealed plans to expand the tournament nationwide. She also highlighted efforts to explore and export sports talent abroad, alongside the ongoing drive to secure safe job placements for Kenyans through approved agents.
She noted that last year alone, Kenyans working abroad remitted over 500 billion US dollars, up from 400 billion in 2022, underscoring the impact of the program.
During the finals at Mitooni Primary School, Gundua Starlets edged Kironya Starlets 1-0 in the women’s category, while Sirimon FC defeated Christian FC 1-0 in the men’s final.
Local leaders, including MPs Rindikiri and Mugambi, lauded the initiative, urging youth to register, acquire passports, and take advantage of the opportunities provided. They emphasized that the program not only nurtures talent but also opens doors to global employment.
