Kisii County Trade, Tourism, and Marketing Executive Committee Member (ECM) Cyrus Nyabicha has urged the societies to develop strong strategic plans that will guide their operations and keep them afloat in the competitive business environment.
Nyabicha spoke at Kisii Agricultural Training Center (KATC) during the commissioning of the Gusii Youth Bunge Savings and Credit Cooperative (Sacco) Society Limited, which has launched a 5-year strategic plan (2025-2029) and it’s Annual Delegates Meeting (ADM).
“The economy is harsh. It is imperative for each Sacco to embrace a strategic plan to navigate it,” Nyabicha told the delegates.
He told members to increase their savings, secure loans, invest in viable projects, and repay the loans to foster Sacco’s operations and profits.
The CEC implored the members to invest in the value chain to increase their incomes and boost their standard of living.
“The county government is ensuring Saccos have an enabling environment to do business, make profits, and create more jobs,” Nyabicha noted.
He appealed to the societies to mobilize resources, grow financially, and expand their businesses to benefit more members.
Decrying increasing unemployment among educated youths, he challenged them to join Saccos, invest, secure loans, and invest to benefit.
“SACCOs are platforms where youths can access cheap loans individually or in groups, invest, be self-employed, and boost their lives,” Nyabicha pointed out.
Sacco chairman, Dr. Asha Moronya, said the Sacco plans to increase its membership from 7,022 to 17,145 within five years, as envisaged in the Strategic Plan, and has put measures in place to ensure its implementation.
“We want to increase members, mobile funds, improve infrastructure, business, human resources, control systems, innovation and creativity, and marketing as per the plan,” Moronya told the delegates.

The plan, noted the official, is meant to spur the society’s growth and transform members’ economic welfare, adding that it will aid the Sacco in evaluating its progress.
Moranya said the strategic plan will help the Sacco transit from Back Office Service Activity (BOSA) to Front Office Service Activity (FOSA) by 2030 and implored the staff, management board, and board of directors to understand the model for the Sacco to realize it.
The Board of Directors lauded management and stakeholders for supporting the Sacco and urged them to diligently continue recruiting more members.
