Stima Sacco Society Limited and Stanbic Bank Kenya have won the Refinancing Efficiency Champion category at the Kenya Affordable Housing Awards 2026, recognised for their effective use of refinancing solutions to strengthen liquidity and expand access to affordable, long-term home financing.
Stima Sacco took the Sacco division of the award, a milestone that reflects the growing role Saccos are playing in Kenya’s affordable housing finance landscape. Increasingly, Saccos are giving members alternative pathways to mortgage and home financing solutions, positions once dominated almost entirely by commercial banks.

Stanbic Bank Kenya claimed the bank division of the same category, recognised alongside Stima Sacco for channelling refinancing tools into more accessible, longer-term home loans.
Both wins were announced by the Kenya Mortgage Refinance Company (KMRC), which partners with financial institutions across the sector to support access to longer-term, more affordable home loans. The dual recognition underscores how banks and Saccos alike are being pulled into the same mission: closing Kenya’s housing finance gap through smarter, more sustainable refinancing.
