Kenya values its longstanding partnership with Japan, which has brought significant benefits across key sectors, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has said.
Mudavadi, who hosted Japan’s Foreign Minister Motegi Toshimitsu highlighted the countries’ shared commitment to deepening ties in trade, investment, development, and multilateral cooperation.
Mudavadi praised Japan’s support through Official Development Assistance, especially in energy, infrastructure, agriculture, health, ICT, and education, noting its role in projects like geothermal energy and irrigation.
However, he pointed out the trade imbalance, with Kenyan exports to Japan lagging behind imports, and urged for expanded market access for Kenyan goods.
The two leaders also discussed innovative financing options for key infrastructure projects, including the Mombasa Special Economic Zone, and emphasized the importance of maritime security and regional stability.
