Boresha Deposit-Taking (DT) Sacco has officially crossed the Ksh 15 billion mark in asset value, cementing its status as a financial powerhouse. Alongside this milestone, the Sacco has built a robust loan portfolio worth Ksh 12 billion.

The impressive financial results were unveiled by the Sacco’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Jacob Mengich, HSC, during the International Day of Cooperatives celebrations held in Eldama Ravine, Baringo County.

Established in 1976, Boresha DT Sacco continues to position itself as the financial service provider of choice. This enduring reputation has translated into massive growth in its customer base. “Our membership in 2026 now stands at 93, 000,” CEO Jacob Mengich told Sacco Review.

Mengich attributed this rapid expansion to robust service delivery that prioritises member needs, deepening customer trust in the institution’s stability and aggressive digital transformation, particularly through the expansion of its mobile banking platforms.

The celebrations also served as a platform to honour Pamela Wanyanja, the outgoing Cooperatives Officer for the Eldama Ravine and Mogotio regions, who is proceeding to retirement.

Wanyanja began her distinguished public service career in Kericho County at the age of 26, before transferring to Baringo County. Over her decades long career, she spearheaded the establishment of over 200 cooperative societies, a feat achieved through relentless training, community mobilisation, and cooperative education.

“Boresha DT Sacco recognises the massive contributions of Pamela Wanyanja to our growth,” Mengich noted in a heartfelt tribute. “Her work went beyond mere numbers; she shifted mindsets, mobilising the masses to build and manage highly efficient cooperatives. We wish her the very best in her well-deserved retirement.”

The event, which brought together over 100 Saccos from Baringo and Nakuru counties, was held under the global theme: “Cooperatives for a Peaceful World.”

Distinguished guests graced the occasion, including Baringo Senator Vincent Kiprono Chemitei. Addressing the gathering, Senator Chemitei urged local Saccos to proactively sign Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with the county administration.

The Senator emphasised that strategic partnerships would guarantee that value added cooperative products, such as locally processed milk and bottled water, are directly purchased and consumed by the county government, creating a circular economy that directly benefits local farmers and savers.
