Bahati Muungano Women Sacco members urged to double shares

Bahati Muungano Women Savings and Credit Co-operative Society members, Nakuru County have been urged to purchase more shares, boost their savings for better returns. This is in order to increase investment and strengthen the enterprise.
Margaret Njoroge, the Society’s chairperson said the Sacco can only grow if members increase their shares.
Ms. Njoroge told more than 60 members of the Sacco during the Annual General Meeting(AGM) that members need to increase shares in order to realize their visions and dreams..
Present during the AGM held at Bahati Centre, Nakuru were Xavier Lugaga, the area Sub Country Co-operative officer, the Bahati location chief Ms Florence Ngugi among others.
Ms Njoroge revealed plans to diversify the Sacco’s activities including investing in the Dairy sector and urged members to purchasing dairy cows.
Freshia Gachau, the Sacco’s Treasurer thanked Geothermal Development Corporation (GDC) for allowing the Sacco to do business with it. “ We have been able to boost the Sacco’s income and enhanced our investment capacity,” said Gachau. She thanked the Ol Kalau MP, Ngunjiri for supporting the Sacco.
Area Chief, Florence Ngugi urged residents to form Saccos and use them to invest in income generating projects. She urged the youth to join Co-operatives as a way of avoiding alcoholism and drug abuse.
Lugaga urged leaders of the Co-operative movement to embrace good corporate governance practices for members to get maximum benefits from their savings”
Lugaga said women empowerment, gender parity and social equality can be achieved through entrepreneurship.
