Former Roads and Transport Cabinet Secretary (CS) James Macharia has been appointed the new Chairman of Sidian Bank, taking over from Centum Investments CEO James Mworia, who has held the position since 2014.

Announcing the leadership change on Wednesday, October 22, Sidian Bank confirmed that Mworia will remain on the bank’s board.

“It has been my great honor and privilege to hand over the chairmanship of the Board of Sidian Bank to James Macharia,” Mworia said during the handover ceremony.

He praised Macharia as a “seasoned banker” with more than 30 years of experience, including eight years as CEO of NIC Bank now part of the merged NCBA Group and a decade of service in the Cabinet.

“The bank could not ask for a more capable leader to guide Sidian Bank into its next phase of growth,” Mworia added.

Reflecting on his tenure, Mworia highlighted Sidian Bank’s transformation over the past decade from a microfinance institution, K-Rep Bank, into a dynamic commercial bank approaching Ksh100 billion in assets and recognized as a leading SME lender.
