Nakuru County Director of Cooperative Josephine Ngandu has urged the leaders of all cooperative movement in the county to embrace good governance in order to render quality services to members.
Speaking in Nakuru city, Ngandu reiterated that good cooperatives governance is the pillar of growth and service delivery.
“The Leaders of Cooperative Movement should ensure they are innovative in producing better products and services which can uplift the economic status of all members”, said Ngandu.
She also urged the youth especially Generation-Zs to join Cooperative Movement and reap from better services provided by various cooperative Movement.
“For more than a Century Cooperative Movement have been a vehicle for economic development, we urged all youth especially Generation-Z to join Cooperative Movement; they will reap and be able to fulfil all their economic obligations like educating their children, expending their business and improving source of income,” said Ngandu.

The Director also revealed that Nakuru so far have 568 active Cooperative Movements which are a beckon of development in the county, stating that 345 are Saccos,131 Marketing Cooperative Society,65 Housing Cooperative Society,16 Transport Cooperative Society and 11 Multipurpose Cooperative Society.
Elsewhere the leaders of Cooperative Movement highlighted their swot achievements and challenges, as they urged the National Government and County Government to intervene and create conducive environment that will enable them to conduct their day-to-day activities smoothly and provide better services to the residence of Nakuru County.
Mwaki Travelers Sacco, chairperson Joseph Mwangi said the main challenges they are facing is security ,no street lights and proper stage installation within Nakuru City.
Mwangi urged the national government to restore security to ensure stakeholders in travelers Sacco like drivers, conductors, passengers and the public are safe.

He also urged the County Government of Nakuru to install street lights and install modern stage to enable them have conducive environment in the course of conducting their day-to-day activities within Nakuru County.
The Representative of Women Sacco, Lois Methu who is also the Chairperson of Pivotal Women Sacco urged women in Nakuru County to join cooperative movement .
Methu said that the Sacco have been a powerful source of economic development which have empower Nakuru women to save, acquire land and educate their children.
She confirmed that the challenges they are facing as women Sacco is Access adequate credit, digital tools of finance and market access.
Methu urged the relevant Government officials to intervene and address those challenges to enable more women to thrive economically in Cooperative Movements.
Transport Sacco also get an opportunity to share their achievements and challenges in Nakuru County.
Represented by The Kiamunyi Bodaboda Sacco Chairperson Erick Mutahi, said the Transport Sacco have change the lives of thousands of Boda-boda who have managed to buy their own motorcycle and restore economic stability in their families.

“We have witness the lives of our Boda-boda members who have save, grow together and restore their economic status which have been beneficial to their children by educating them well and have stable families”, said Mutahi.
The Marketing Cooperative Movement representative John Apollo who is also the Chairman of Ndemu Farmers Cooperative Society highlight that the improvement of value chain of Coffee and other agricultural products have assist many members.
The Representative of Housing Saccos Sammy Njoroge who is also the Chairman of Wanavijiji Housing Cooperative Society highlighted their achievements and challenges as he urged the Ministry of Housing and Land to work closely with stakeholders in Housing Cooperative Society.

The Saccos within Nakuru County was represented by Egerton University Sacco Chairperson Dr. Catherine Mumiukha who highlighted the achievements and challenges that Saccos within Nakuru County are facing and possible solutions to address those challenges
The National Sacco within Nakuru County was represented by an official from The National Police DT Sacco .
The CIC Managing Director Meshak Miogo who was the Chief Guest during the event urged all leaders to know that an organization is as good as its leaders and urged the Leaders of Cooperative Movement to embrace Integrity, Servant Leadership, Customer Experience, Members Education, Digital Technology, Compliance to Regulations Governing Cooperative Movements, Capacity Building, Competitive Sustainable Return, and Put God First in all their programs.
