The Board of Directors of the National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) has confirmed CPA Samuel Karogo Ndung’u as the organization’s substantive Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
In a notice, the Board stated that Ndung’u’s appointment followed a competitive recruitment process that received concurrence from the parent ministry. Before his confirmation, he had been serving as the Acting Managing Director of the NCPB.
The Board expressed congratulated Ndung’u’s appointment, the board is confidence in his leadership, his appointment comes at a time when the institution is strengthening its role in supporting food security and agricultural development across the country.
Ndung’u’s confirmation is expected to provide continuity in the NCPB’s leadership as it advances its mandate of supporting farmers, stabilizing grain markets, and strengthening the country’s food security systems.
NCPB operates through six administrative regions: Northern, Coast, Nairobi Eastern, South Rift, North Rift, and Lake Western. Each region is headed by a regional manager responsible for overseeing the Board’s operations within their respective areas.

Established under the National Cereals and Produce Board Act (CAP 338), the National Cereals and Produce Board is a state corporation mandated to manage national food security, facilitate trade in agricultural produce, and provide post-harvest services.
Among its key functions are the management of the Strategic Food Reserve (SFR), distribution of subsidized fertilizer to farmers, and operation of grain storage facilities aimed at reducing post-harvest losses and enhancing food availability across the country.
