The Ministry of Cooperatives and Micro Small and Medium Enterprises Development has started a series of meetings to revive coffee production in the central region.
The campaign led by CS Wycliffe Oparanya begun yesterday, July 9, and is scheduled to run through Friday July 11, 2025 across five counties of the central regions.
It aims to bring together coffee farmers cooperative societies and other key players in Tharaka Nithi, Meru, Kirinyaga, Laikipia and Nyeri and part of efforts to improve coffee farming and boost the incomes of farmers.
CS Oparanya said the purpose of the meetings is to raise awareness about ongoing reforms in the coffee sector and to encourage farmers to adopt government-supported programs.
“One of the main programs being promoted is the Coffee Cherry Advance Revolving Fund which has already supported many farmers in other parts of the country,” he said.
