Form Co-operatives, legislator urges traders

Tana River County business people have been urged to form savings and credit Cooperatives to uplift their businesses.
Speaking to Sacco Review, Bura legislator Ali Wario said: “Saccos are better in generating savings compared to banks because the business people can access money more easily to bolster businesses”
He added that his office is ready to support the Cooperatives that are serious and active by giving them Sh1million to boost their savings.
‘’I’m out to assist our people by boosting their savings to grow their businesses,’’ said Wario.
He challenged Boda boda operators to make sure they form Saccos that can be a stepping stone to better opportunities.
“Depending on hand-outs ruins your lives, but through Saccos you will empower yourselves,” he told them.
The Bura MP revealed that his office has been in the forefront in formation of Saccos such Mororo Honey Sacco. He urged other groups to form Saccos to benefit from Government funding.

Meanwhile, Sala Ward MCA Fauzia Sadik has urged women and youths to form a Sacco to enable them start income-generating projects.
