Women in Taita Taveta County have been urged to form Saccos to uplift their standard of living.
Speaking during Qwetu Sacco Annual Delegates Meeting held at Tsavo East Galaxy Resort in Voi town recently, Taita Taveta County Cooperative Commissioner, Andrew Mbinga said the County Government will continue to support Saccos in the region to enable them offer quality services to members and the general public.
He advised local residents to join Qwetu Sacco so they could get loans to implement their personal development projects.
The Commissioner decried the low number of women who have formed Saccos in the area.
Mbinga said the Co-operative movement plays a vital role in the country in economically uplifting Kenyans.
He urged youth to also form Saccos to get loans to start income-generating activities and also urged residents to invest heavily in Saccos to secure loans to pay fees for their school children.
He lamented that many people in the region have not invested in Saccos, a situation which he said leads to miserable life.
