Uasin Gishu County Youth Bunge Sacco President, Elijah Koech has urged the County and National governments to fund youth based Saccos.
Saying Saccos are the way to go as youth in the County seek economic empowerment, Koech said the agvernment should fund youth Saccos to uplift the members’ living standards.
Speaking during a Stakeholders Forum held at an Eldoret Hotel, Koech challenged youths to develop a saving culture to improve their livelihoods and qualify for loans to establish business enterprises.
“In Kenya youths are the majority affected by unemployment and keeping themselves busy through joining Saccos will drastically reduce cases of insecurity, indulgence in drugs and other vices,” he said.
Uasin Gishu County Youth Bunge was started in 2011. Its membership is open to youths of between 18-35 years.
