More than forty-six women and youth groups in Kisii County have received sh.10 million from the National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF).
Speaking during the funds disbursement, Kisii Woman Representative Dorice Donya said the money is aimed at boosting table banking activities within the groups and providing economic empowerment to the members.
During the cheque issuance ceremony at her offices, Donya advised the beneficiaries to spend the funds on income-generating activities.
She urged them to invest wisely, not only to improve their socio-economic status but also to navigate the challenges posed by the current economic hardship.
“This money is meant to improve your socio-economic status, especially during these tough economic times,” stated the woman representative.
She further urged the groups to seize the opportunities provided by affirmative action funds, borrowing, and investing in income-earning activities to further enhance their economic independence.
In her commitment to on-going assistance, Donya affirmed her dedication to providing financial support to women’s groups through the National Affirmative Action Funds.
She called upon women to maximize their participation in key economic sectors and acknowledge the pivotal role played by women in society.
