Principal Secretary State Department for Co-Operatives Patrick Kilemi has said the Government of Kenya will partner with Zambia’s to improve the growth of cooperatives in the country.
The PS who attended a two-day Zambia’s inaugural National Conference on Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and Cooperatives in Lusaka, Zambia said the cooperation will enhance and Cooperatives for the two countries and the region.
Zambia’s Minister of Small and Medium Enterprise Development Elias Mubanga said they explored how Zambia can learn from the cooperative movements in Kenya which he said will boast thriving businesses owned by cooperatives. From agriculture to industry, cooperatives play a significant role in their economies, especially through value addition initiatives.

He said lessons learnt from the engagements have reinforced the ministry’s commitment to fostering a robust cooperative sector in Zambia.
The Conference theme, “Harnessing the power of collaboration in fostering MSME and Cooperative growth for sustainable economic development,” underscored the commitment by participating nations to enhance collaboration and foster inter-dependence and joint efforts across all sectors.
The Conference also emphasized collaboration as a key driver for the growth of MSMEs and Cooperatives in the region.
