The County Government of Kisumu and other regional governments from thirteen countries have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the creation of an Economic Forum for African Regions.
The forum, championed by the Regional Council of Rabat Sale Kenitra, is formed as a framework for partnership and exchange of experiences capable of promoting development.
The network is also part of countries’ efforts to intensify social, economic and cultural ties between African countries and their populations.
The partner regions and members of the network undertake to cooperate closely in the areas of intervention falling within their legal jurisdictions to promote economic development and investment and business support to enterprises.
Kisumu County Executive Committee Member for Finance and Economic Planning George Okong’o, who represented Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o at the event, signed the deed of partnership on behalf of the county government of Kisumu.
The other regional governments present at the event were the Western Region of the Republic of Cameroon, Nouakchott Region of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, The Grands Ponts Region of the Republic of Ivory Coast, the Autonomous Island of Ndzuwani of the Union of the Comoros, The Hauts Bassins Region of the Republic of Burkina Faso and the City of Kigali of the Republic of Rwanda.
The occasion was presided over by the President of the Regional Council of Rabat H.E Rachid El Abdi.
