- Farmer organisations in Kwale are set to receive new support for agricultural activities

Kwale farmers are set to benefit from a Ksh18.7 million grant issued to 20 Saccos and farmer groups to strengthen agricultural activities and improve household incomes.
Kwale Governor Fatuma Achani handed over the funds during a ceremony at the Kwale County Headquarters, saying the support would help farmer organisations expand production, access better markets and add value to their produce.
Among the beneficiaries are Kinango Ward Community Sacco, Mwavumbo Ward Community Sacco and Tsimba Golini Ward Community Sacco.
“The funds will help the associations expand their farming activities, find markets for their products and increase the value of their produce,” Achani said.
According to the governor, the county administration would continue investing in farmer organisations to strengthen their capacity and enable them to participate more effectively in income-generating activities.

Achani urged the beneficiaries to manage the funds responsibly and ensure that the support translates into tangible benefits for farmers at the grassroots.
“We want our farmers to benefit from their produce by ensuring that they have access to markets and are able to add value to what they produce,” she said.
Matuga MP Kassim Tandaza welcomed the initiative, saying the financial support would bolster agricultural activities and improve the livelihoods of farmers across the county.
He called on the beneficiary organisations to channel the funds towards the intended projects to ensure members receive maximum value from the programme.
Kwale Savings and Credit Unions Chairman Said Nyondo said the grant would enhance the organisations’ ability to serve their members and support their economic activities.
Nyondo added that the financial injection would help the groups roll out programmes aimed at increasing members’ incomes and improving their livelihoods.
The grant forms part of the county government’s efforts to strengthen farmer organisations, promote agricultural production and raise household incomes in Kwale.
