The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development has invited stakeholders and the public to validate two draft frameworks meant to guide digital transformation in Kenya’s agricultural sector.
National validation meeting set for KALRO
The ministry has convened a National Validation Meeting to present the revised Draft Kenya Agricultural Data, Information and Digital Policy, 2026, alongside the Draft Digital Agricultural Information Bill, 2026.
The meeting is scheduled for August 7, 2026 at 9:00 a.m., and will be held at the Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organization (KALRO) headquarters in Loresho, Nairobi.
According to the public notice, the draft policy sets out the overarching framework for promoting data use, digital technologies and innovation in agriculture. The goal, it states, is to enhance productivity, service delivery and evidence based decision making across the sector.
The accompanying bill provides the legal basis for establishing the Kenya Agricultural Digital Information Centre (KADIC), which is expected to anchor the country’s agricultural data systems going forward.
Revisions follow earlier public participation
Both documents were revised after a nationwide stakeholder engagement and public participation exercise held in March 2026. The Ministry says the upcoming meeting will present these revised drafts and seek final stakeholder consensus before the documents proceed to further legislative processes.
The invitation is extended to stakeholders, members of the public and other interested parties, in line with constitutional principles on public participation and transparency.
How to submit views
The draft policy and bill can be accessed on the Ministry’s website, www.kilimo.go.ke. Members of the public wishing to submit written memoranda may do so on or before the date of the meeting, through aircpolicy@kilimo.go.ke, with a copy to dirpolicy@kilimo.go.ke.
Alternatively, memoranda may be delivered by hand or post to the Principal Secretary, State Department for Agriculture, Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, Kilimo House, Cathedral Road, P.O. Box 30028-00100, Nairobi. Envelopes should be clearly marked “Draft Kenya Agricultural Data, Information and Digital Policy, 2026 and Draft Digital Agricultural Information Bill, 2026.”
