The Micro and Small Enterprise Authority (MSEA) Chief Executive Officer, Henry Mwenda Rithaa, has lauded President William Ruto for initiating empowerment programmes in the country to uplift citizens’ living standards.
Rithaa said the programmes have positively impacted many people by economically and academically empowering them.
Speaking in Buuri constituency during the graduation ceremony of the Ujuuzi Mashinani programme, Rithaa urged Kenyans to support such initiatives which are beneficial to them.
“I laud President William Ruto for coming up with such a programme to empower the youth economically and academically. The empowerment programmes have impacted many positively by uplifting their living standards. I also applaud President Ruto for appointing me to head the NYOTA programme,” said the MSEA CEO.
He said the core duty of the government is to bring employment to citizens, especially the youth and women, by enabling them to have money in their pockets in order to uplift their living standards.

Rithaa said they will continue to support groups by providing them with equipment to establish income-generating projects and urged the youth to join organised and registered groups in order to benefit.
“We have more than 40 groups who are graduating today. They need equipment to start income-generating projects. This is what they currently need most. That is why we have brought this equipment, and more are coming.
Many have studied textiles, which is why we have many machines of that type. It is extremely important to train and support such groups,” said Rithaa.
He said the graduating groups will be role models to the entire country, assuring that they will continue supporting the programme.
Rithaa said they will continue partnering with the Ujuuzi Mashinani programme because it is positively impacting the community and country.
During the ceremony, more than 1,530 trainees from the transformative Ujuzi Mashinani Programme graduated, marking a major milestone in empowering local youth with practical, job-ready skills and opening new pathways to economic opportunity.
The initiative has continued to grow steadily, with the first cohort comprising 750 trainees, the second reaching 1,530 graduates, and a third cohort projected to enrol approximately 2,500 trainees.

The programme, aligned with the Government’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), focuses on competency-based training designed to equip learners with practical, market-ready skills in response to rising unemployment.
To bring this vision to life, the constituency has partnered with technical training institutions and vocational training centres, providing essential facilities and hands-on learning opportunities for participants.
The success of the programme reflects a strong commitment to empowering local communities, enhancing employability, and fostering sustainable development within Buuri Constituency.
