The Sacco Societies Regulatory Authority (SASRA) has published a list of approved and registered external auditors for Saccos. This is in accordance with Section 45(b) of the Sacco Societies Act and SASRA’s guidelines.
The external auditors have been duly approved and registered by the Authority to provide auditing services to regulated Saccos in Kenya for the financial year ending December 31, 2025. The list includes a pool of 402 external audit firms, from which Saccos can choose.
In a statement on Monday, SASRA Chief Executive Officer Peter Njuguna stated, “Sacco societies regulated pursuant to the provisions of the Sacco Societies Act, as read with the regulations made thereunder, are at liberty to appoint any one of the external auditors and/or audit firms listed to provide external auditing services in respect of their financial statements for the financial year ending December 31, 2025.”
The statement further clarified that the appointment of external auditors is also subject to compliance with and adherence to the respective Saccos’ internal procurement policies.

SASRA also issued a notice to regulated Saccos, warning that any person or firm not on the approved list is not qualified to provide external auditing services to a regulated Sacco society in Kenya.
“Any financial statements purportedly audited by such unqualified persons shall not be considered by the Authority for approval as required by the Sacco Societies Act and the regulations made thereunder,” the statement concluded.
