Kisii Residents receives CS Simon Chelugui

The national government, through the Ministry of Cooperatives and MSMEs, has affirmed its commitment to increase coffee farming in Kisii County.

Speaking to over 3000 farmers on Wednesday, Cabinet Secretary Simon Chelugui said the region has a huge potential for coffee farming.

“Today we had a meeting with over 3000 coffee farmers in Kisii County who gathered to hear our message and plans regarding the coffee value chain,” he said.

Chelugui said he was impressed by the farmers who are passionate about coffee farming and are committed to embracing the government plans.

“The people of Kisii assured me and my team that they are fully going back to coffee because we have prioritized the interests of the farmers in our administrative and legislative reforms,” he said.

According to the Cabinet Secretary, Kisii County has a huge potential for coffee, and the government will ensure the region can achieve its target of 10,000 metric tonnes in the next two years.
