Over 600 exhibitors to attend Kisumu Agricultural Show in July

Over  600 exhibitors have so far shown interest in participating in this year’s Kisumu  charter Agricultural Society of Kenya (ASK) show.

This was revealed by the chairperson of the committee tusked with organizing the event, Rose Omondi, who said they are also at the moment talking to more exhibitors from Bomet, Vihiga and Kakamega and other adjacent regions ahead of the ASK national show.

Omondi said they are at the moment rebranding adding that the show will open its gates to the public from July 22 to 26, 2026.

With this year’s theme set as “Promoting climate smart agriculture and trade initiatives for sustainable economic growth, new innovations especially in agriculture and industry moving forward  are espected to be seen.

The chairperson spoke during a function attended by the County commissioner Benson Leparmorijo.

She said they are also partnering with the County Government of Kisumu where the Governor Anyang’ Nyongo is the patron.

Over the years, Omondi said the show has been a platform to showcase local talent, innovation, agriculture, and enterprise, while also bringing the community together.

However, she pointed out that the show has faced challenges in recent years, especially during the days of the pandemic, and has struggled to regain its former glory as the saying goes,

“It is only a mad person who does the same thing repeatedly and expects different results.”

In recognition of this, Omondi said, the Society has decided to dopt a fresh approach coupled with a new strategy, and a renewed sense of purpose.

The team we inaugurate she said, has been carefully selected to spearhead these efforts.

“Their task is to restore the Kisumu Show to its rightful place as one of the premier events in the country. Some of you may be assigned roles that are new or unfamiliar, but I am confident that with commitment, a learning mindset, and teamwork, we can organize one of the best shows ever and leave a positive impact on our community.

Kisumu she said is blessed with brilliant minds and innovative ideas.

“All we need to do is harness these resources for the greater good of the Society and the community. I urge each member to think beyond personal gains and ask themselves: “What can I do for the Society and the community?” she said.

She promised to secure input from various government stakeholders to ensure the success of the show.

Omondi reiterated that with dedication, teamwork, and Community support, they have the potential to organize a show that not only revives traditions but also creates lasting benefits for the people of Kisumu.

Leparmorijo promised to work with the new team in order to make the show a success moving forward.

He promised that adequate security will be provided during the entire show period.

Other members in the committee includes Tom Abuto, Paul Odhiambo John Ambogo, James Samo, Pastor Samson Otieno and Jorim Guya,

The caretaker committee was instituted by the government after the ASK branch was disbanded over ineptitude.
