The World Farmers Organization (WFO) Annual Meeting 2026 officially opened today in Nairobi, with Agriculture and Livestock Development Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe and WFO President Arnold Puech d’Alissac presiding over the inauguration ceremony.
The forum provides a critical platform for Kenya to engage with global agricultural leaders, exchange knowledge, and strengthen collaboration on pressing issues affecting farmers worldwide.
During the opening of the meeting, CS Kagwe called for urgent international action to eliminate hazardous agricultural chemicals.
He urged stakeholders to end double standards that allow products banned in other countries to be used in developing nations, highlighting the associated health and environmental risks.
Organised in partnership with WFO’s host member organisation, the Kenya National Farmers’ Federation (KENAFF), the four-day event runs from June 8 to June 11, 2026.

The 2026 edition, themed “Future Fields: Investing in Farmers’ Organisations and Empowering Communities for Sustainable Agriculture,” underscores the role of farmers and their organisations in shaping sustainable agricultural development.
Over the course of the meeting, participants will engage in high-level dialogues, thematic exchanges, farmer-led governance sessions, and site visits to local agricultural initiatives.
