Kitui County has postponed the KASTIE 2026 agricultural show and trade expo to March 2027, citing delays in county budget approval.
The Kitui County government on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, officially postponed the Kitui Agricultural Show, Trade and Investment Expo (KASTIE) 2026. The event, initially scheduled for September 24 to September 26, 2026, will now run from March 11 to March 13, 2027.
The County Agriculture and Livestock Minister, Dr. Stephen Mbaya Kimwele, and the County Trade, Industry, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Innovation and Cooperatives Minister, Rose Mawia Mutuku, issued a press statement on the postponement. They spoke on behalf of Governor Dr. Julius Makau Malombe at the Governor’s Office Boardroom.
Why the show was postponed
The county government said the postponement was necessitated by delays in the approval and processing of the county budget for the 2026/2027 financial year. This, in turn, affected timelines for securing critical logistics support and procuring goods and services essential to hosting the event.

County thanks stakeholders, urges continued preparation
In the statement, the county ministers thanked farmers, exhibitors, investors, partners, government officials, participating institutions and other stakeholders for their efforts toward making KASTIE a success.
The county government said it remains committed to working closely with all partners and relevant institutions to deliver a well-organised and impactful expo. Stakeholders were therefore encouraged to continue preparations for the March 2027 event.
