ACCOSCA opens 2026 SACCA congress registration

  • Registration for the 2026 SACCA Congress in Dar es Salaam is now open, with early bird rates available until August 17, 2026.
  • Kenya is expected to send one of the largest delegations, backed by its strong ties with ACCOSCA and growing role in Africa’s cooperative movement.

Registration has opened for the 26th Savings and Credit Cooperative Associations of Africa (SACCA) congress, and Kenyan cooperators are expected to feature prominently. The congress will run from October 11 to 16, 2026, in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Prospective delegates have until August 17, 2026 to secure discounted early bird registration rates.

Organisers expect more than 2,000 delegates, 50 speakers and representatives from over 40 countries across five continents. The event is widely regarded as Africa’s largest gathering of financial cooperatives.

The congress is organised by the Nairobi headquartered African Confederation of Cooperative Savings and Credit Associations (ACCOSCA), working closely with the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania and the Savings and Credit Cooperative Union League of Tanzania (SCCULT).

Kenya’s cooperative sector has close ties to the continental movement, and those ties have deepened in recent months. The government of Kenya officially granted ACCOSCA diplomatic status under the Privileges and Immunities Act (Cap. 179). This formalises Nairobi’s position as a hub for Africa’s cooperative financial sector.

Kenya hosted the 24th SACCA congress in 2024. State Department for Cooperatives Principal Secretary (PS) Patrick Kilemi has since announced Kenya’s bid, made jointly with ACCOSCA, to host the 2028 World Credit Union Conference (WCUC).

Tanzania’s hosting of the 2026 congress was first announced by Tanzanian officials during International Day of Cooperatives celebrations in Dodoma. The agenda is expected to mirror Kenya’s own cooperative reform priorities, with a focus on digital financial services, institutional governance and financial inclusion. These are also core pillars of Kenya’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) and fall under the ongoing oversight of the Sacco Societies Regulatory Authority (SASRA).

Given Kenya’s proximity to Dar es Salaam, its long history with ACCOSCA and the newly signed diplomatic agreement, the Kenyan delegation is expected to be one of the largest at this year’s congress.
