Cabinet Secretary for Cooperatives and MSMEs Development Wycliffe Oparanya is leading Kenya’s cooperative leaders delegation on a benchmarking mission in Dublin, Ireland hosted by the Irish League of Credit Unions (ILCU).
The CS who was accompanied by State Department for Cooperatives Principal Secretary Patrick Kilemi will also visit the United Kingdom.
Oparanya in a statement said the delegation in its first day in Ireland has explored innovative strategies that have strengthened member engagement, financial inclusion and sustainable growth in cooperative sector.
“The experience provides valuable lessons that can be adapted to enhance the cooperative movement back home,” Oparanya said.
The mission is timely for Kenya’s cooperative movement in strengthening governance and regulatory compliance, accelerating digital transformation, diversifying financial products, promoting financial inclusion, and enhancing capacity building for sustainable growth.

ILCU has been instrumental in advancing cooperative governance, promoting ethical financial practices, and supporting credit union development in several African countries.
The Kenyan delegation will also visit with regulatory institutions in London, including the Prudential Regulation Authority, the Financial Conduct Authority, and the Financial Services Compensation Scheme in the United Kingdom.
