CS Oparanya monitors impact of NYOTA program training in Kiambu and Nairobi Counties

Cabinet Secretary for Cooperatives and MSMEs Development, Wycliffe Oparanya  has visited NYOTA Business Development Services (BDS) training centers in Kiambu and Nairobi counties to assess the progress, beneficiary engagement, and overall impact of the entrepreneurship training program as it nears completion.

In Kiambu County, CS Oparanya visited ACK Kiu River School, which hosted eight training classes with over 200 young participants from four wards in Kiambu Town Constituency.

During his visit, Oparanya observed the ongoing sessions, interacted with both the trainees and trainers, and praised the high level of enthusiasm and active participation among the youth as they engaged in practical business skills training.

The CS also visited Westlands Constituency in Nairobi County, where he met another group of motivated trainees. He encouraged them to apply the skills they had learned especially in business planning, financial literacy, and enterprise growth strategies to strengthen and expand their businesses. Oparanya also lauded the trainers for their effective facilitation, noting that the training is responsive to the challenges and demands of today’s dynamic business environment.

The NYOTA Business Skills Training is designed to equip thousands of young people with practical entrepreneurship skills to help them start, strengthen, and grow viable businesses.

The four-day curriculum covers essential topics including business planning, financial management, compliance, market readiness, and strategies for enterprise sustainability.

With a goal of empowering over 820,000 young people, NYOTA provides structured entrepreneurship training, certification, mentorship, and financial support.

The program build capacity of young entrepreneurs, it also aims to expand economic opportunities, foster self-reliance, and position micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) as key drivers of Kenya’s socio-economic transformation.
