The government has confirmed that the second tranche disbursement under the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) programme will officially begin on June 27, 2026, unlocking fresh business capital for thousands of young entrepreneurs across the country.

Announcing the date after receiving an update report at Harambee House on Monday, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki said the initiative remains central to the administration’s plan to economically empower young people.

“The second tranche disbursement of the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) business start‑up capital will be launched on 27th June 2026,” Kindiki posted on his X account.

He explained that beneficiaries who receive the second round of funding will be expected to seek additional support from other government‑backed financing programmes to scale up their enterprises.

“Thereafter, the beneficiaries will be expected to approach other government-financed programmes such as the Hustler Fund, Uwezo Fund and the Youth Enterprise Fund for capital boost to further grow their businesses,” he stated.

The latest update comes after weeks of preparation, following budgetary challenges that had initially delayed implementation timelines.

Earlier this month, Principal Secretary for MSMEs Development Susan Mang’eni confirmed that 122,147 youth drawn from wards across the country are already benefiting from the programme through business training, mentorship and enterprise development support. She noted that the beneficiaries were selected through the Entrepreneurial Aptitude Test, with most having already received the first round of support.

“Most of them have already accessed the first business start‑up grant of Sh25,000, with Sh3,000 retained as savings under the NSSF Haba Haba Scheme,” Mang’eni said.

Government data shows that 98 per cent of beneficiaries who received the first tranche have already started businesses, reflecting the early success of the youth empowerment initiative.

The NYOTA programme, a flagship of the Kenya Kwanza government, aims at promoting financial independence and align with the government’s broader Bottom‑Up Economic Transformation Agenda.
