President William Ruto will represent Africa at the upcoming G7 Summit, where he is expected to champion increased investment, expanded trade opportunities, and job creation across the continent.
The summit, which brings together leaders of the world’s largest economies, will focus on pressing global challenges including economic resilience, international security, energy security, technological innovation, and climate action.
According to a statement from State House on Monday, June 15, 2026, Ruto’s participation underscores Africa’s growing role in shaping global economic discussions and advancing sustainable development. “His attendance at the summit underscores Africa’s pivotal position as a cornerstone during a time of profound geopolitical and economic shifts,” the statement noted.
The Head of State is expected to join discussions alongside leaders from Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States, using the platform to advance Africa’s development priorities while strengthening partnerships with leading economies.

Kenya will push for stronger cooperation between Africa and global partners, particularly in areas that can unlock economic growth and employment opportunities.
“The summit will provide an important platform for the President to champion Africa’s call for fairer trade and investment frameworks, advocate access to climate financing, and reaffirm the continent’s role in the future of global economic architecture.”
Ruto is also expected to highlight the need for reforms in global financial systems to ensure developing nations have equitable access to funding for infrastructure, industrialisation, and climate adaptation projects.
Africa’s priorities at the summit will include enhancing value addition, boosting intra‑African trade, accelerating industrial growth, and creating quality jobs for the continent’s rapidly expanding youth population.
Kenya intends to leverage the summit to attract strategic partnerships and mobilise resources for sustainable development, positioning Africa as a key player in global economic transformation.
