Kenyans urged to use Boma Yangu to access affordable mortgages

The National Housing Corporation (NHC) has urged Kenyans to use its digital platform, Boma Yangu, to secure affordable housing mortgages through the e-Citizen platform.

NHC board member Joshua Nyamori said that the platform, which he said is the gateway to the Affordable Housing Program, enables Kenyans to buy houses at market-friendly rates on both short and long-term basis unlike other similar facilities.

He noted that banks provide mortgages for only a few years but through Boma Yangu, one can secure the same for up to 22 or 30 years.

Nyamori was speaking at Taifa Park in Kisumu yesterday, where he led members of the public in a tree planting exercise to commemorate the National Tree Planting Day.

He lauded the government for setting aside the day for forestation, terming the move as a major step towards mitigating the negative effects of climate change.

The Officer called on the county government to open the Jomo Kenyatta grounds, Jamhuri Gardens and other public parks to benefit residents.

Elsewhere, Kisumu County Commissioner Hussein Alasaw led the Kisumu National Polytechnic and the Ramogi Institute of Advanced Technology where they planted 10,000 trees each.
