Lamu youth, women urged to form Saccos for prosperity

Women and youth in Lamu county have been urged to form Saccos to boost their economic welfare.

Lamu county Cooperative Director Paul Thauri said that formation of Saccos in the region will enable women and youth to embark on their daily activities in a more efficient and effective way.

“Currently, this group cannot carry out their daily undertakings effectively due to lack of funds,” he said, further asking residents to join Saccos in large numbers and invest heavily so as to uplift their living standards.

He revealed that joining Saccos is the surest way of achieving stability and prosperity and urged members to borrow loans and use them wisely for the intended purposes only.

The director called upon members to promptly repay their loans so that other members can also benefit from the same loan products.

“Do not default on your loans because it can lead to the collapse of Saccos.” He said.
