Meru Governor Isaac Mutuma has launched the distribution of assorted climate resilience items under the Financing Locally-Led Climate Action (FLLoCA) programme, aimed at equipping vulnerable and marginalized households with tools to combat the effects of climate change.
Speaking during the official launch event on Monday, Governor Mutuma said the initiative is part of his administration’s strategy to build sustainable and climate-resilient communities across the county.

“My administration is founded on the understanding that our environment, water, and agriculture are deeply interconnected. When one suffers, all are at risk. That is why I was proud to officially launch the distribution of FLLoCA Climate Resilience items to strengthen our communities,” said Governor Mutuma.
Under this programme, the county is distributing 8,125 water tanks for rainwater harvesting, 364 dairy goats to support nutrition and generate household income, 1,000 LPG gas cylinders to promote clean and safe cooking and 1,000 kitchen garden kits to enhance household food security.

Mutuma emphasized that the items are not handouts, but strategic investments aimed at increasing the self reliance and dignity of the recipients.
“These items are strategic investments in the dignity, resilience, and long-term sustainability of our people,” he added.
The Governor also extended his gratitude to the national government and development partners supporting the FLLoCA programme, saying the partnership underscores the importance of locally led climate action.

“Your collaboration proves that together, we can build a stronger, greener, and more climate resilient Meru,” Governor Mutuma said.
The FLLoCA programme is part of a national initiative aimed at empowering county governments to implement climate adaptation and mitigation interventions at the grassroots level.
