Speaking while launching the initiation this morning, Cabinet Secretary for Cooperatives Wycliffe Oparanya said President William Ruto has been supporting programmes for environmental conservation and he fully welcomed any initiative to plant trees in an effort of curbing climate change.
Oparanya added that trees planted by 2023 SACCA Delegates will remain as an indicator of the support of Cooperative movement in Africa to advocate for environmental conservation in all African States.
Oparanya who was accompanied by other Cabinet Ministers from African Countries said that SACCA Congress tree planting initiation should not end in Keanya but it should continue in other countries of Africa in order to plant more trees in Africa and curb the negative impact of climate change.
Meanwhile various delegates from African countries who attend SACCA Congress have expressed concern about the rapid careless cutting down of trees by International Companies from Foreign Nations in Asia, America and Europe which has affected the food security among Africa people.
Speaking to SACCO REVIEW this morning the delegates said Heads of state in Africa should lay down measures to protect forest coverage in Africa instead of allowing companies from foreign nations cause a lot of environment harm to Africa.
Led by Peter Sonna from Ghana, the delegates said the issue of environmental conservation should not be taken lightly because it has a lot of negative impact to the ordinary citizens of Africa which will automatically affect the economic activities of the people of Africa.
Sonna said Heads of state and governments in Africa should defend and protect Africa’s environment by ensuring that strict and protective regulations have been put in place for conserving the natural resources of Africa which are being carelessly exploited by Foreign Countries.
