Saccos realized over Sh 1.2bn turnover in 2016

A big number of registered Savings and Credit Cooperative Societies (Saccos) in Kilifi County earned a remarkable turnover of over KSh 1.2 billion in 2016
According to Kilifi County Cooperative Commissioner, Mary Mkare, the 243 registered Cooperative societies in the County have a membership of 95,818 with turnover of some of the Saccos being over KSh 1.2 billion adding that by 2016 member deposits stood at KSh 4,640,940,681.
Speaking during the 2017 Ushirika Day celebrations, the Cooperative Commissioner, however, added that the Cooperative societies in the county have a share capital of KSh 996,676,106.
She also said the directorate of Cooperative Development has facilitated capacity building programme for both Women and Youth Saccos in the County.
Mkare urged Sacco members in the region to remain united and patronised their Saccos in order to enable them offer quality services to them in a professional way.
