Social media influencer and actress Azziad Nasenya is embroiled in a legal dispute with Qona Deposit Taking Savings and Credit Society, accusing the sacco of unlawfully listing her Ksh 20 million apartment for auction.
The dispute, which is currently before a commercial court in Nairobi, centers around claims that the sacco moved to auction her property to recover an alleged debt, despite the fact that she had already made efforts to settle the arrears.
According to court documents, Nasenya entered into an agreement with Qona Sacco for the purchase of an apartment at Platinum Oak in Nairobi. Under the terms of the agreement, Nasenya was expected to repay the loan in installments. However, she claims that due to the challenging economic environment, she fell behind on her payments, accumulating arrears of approximately Ksh 1.5 million by September 2025.
In a bid to resolve the arrears, Nasenya alleges that Qona Sacco used Ksh 2.4 million of her personal savings to cover the outstanding amount. Despite this, the sacco reportedly proceeded to run a public notice on September 24, 2025, advertising the sale of her apartment at an auction scheduled for October 8, 2025, citing an alleged unpaid debt of Ksh 21 million.

In her legal suit, Nasenya argues that the sacco’s actions are illegal and unjust. She asserts that since her savings had already been used to clear the arrears, the move to auction the property was unnecessary and unfair. Nasenya further contends that the decision to demand the full repayment of the loan is unlawful, especially considering that she has expressed her willingness to continue making payments.
The influencer also claims that the sacco failed to issue the legally required notices before initiating the auction process, leaving her family at risk of eviction. She has requested the court to intervene, seeking an order to prevent the sale of the apartment until the matter is fully resolved.
Nasenya is calling for the court to bar Qona Sacco from proceeding with the auction, which she argues would cause undue hardship and loss of her home.
The outcome of the lawsuit could have broader implications for the way financial institutions like saccos handle loan defaults.
