- Kenya’s biggest Saccos continue to expand their balance sheets
- Lending and deposit mobilisation remain key drivers of Sacco growth
- The latest industry data reveals shifting fortunes among leading institutions
SASRA’s Sacco Supervision Annual Report, 2025 has ranked Kenya’s 10 largest Saccos by total assets, deposits, loans and income.
Kenya had 357 regulated Saccos in operation as at December 31, 2025, of which 179 were licensed as deposit-taking Saccos (DT-Saccos). It is from within this group of 179 that the following rankings are drawn. Together, the top 10 hold Ksh411.90 billion in assets, representing roughly 38.5 percent of all DT-Sacco assets and about a third of the entire regulated Sacco industry’s Ksh1.21 trillion balance sheet.
Mwalimu National DT Sacco holds the top position, with total assets of Ksh76.31 billion, up from Ksh68.89 billion in 2024, a growth of 10.77 percent. Its deposits stood at Ksh56.51 billion and its gross loan book reached Ksh56.98 billion, with total income of Ksh10.75 billion for the year.
Stima DT Sacco follows closely, with total assets of Ksh75.27 billion, a 13.17 percent increase over the year. Its gross loan book, at Ksh57.49 billion, was the largest of any Sacco in the top 10, built on a deposit base of Ksh52.19 billion, and total income came in at Ksh10.82 billion.
Kenya National Police DT Sacco recorded total assets of Ksh66.40 billion, a rise of 10.98 percent. Its loan book grew to Ksh57.23 billion, supported by deposits of Ksh37.51 billion, reflecting strong lending activity relative to its deposit mobilisation.

Harambee DT Sacco, meanwhile, reported total assets of Ksh41.29 billion, up 6.69 percent from Ksh38.70 billion the previous year, with deposits of Ksh27.57 billion, gross loans of Ksh35.25 billion and total income of Ksh7.22 billion.
Tower Sacco recorded the fastest asset growth within the top 10, expanding 23.25 percent to Ksh34.56 billion, from Ksh28.04 billion in 2024. Its deposits rose to Ksh26.21 billion and gross loans to Ksh26.36 billion, with total income of Ksh5.28 billion.
Just behind Tower, Unaitas Sacco posted total assets of Ksh29.60 billion, a 13.32 percent increase, with deposits of Ksh15.89 billion and gross loans of Ksh22.61 billion, and total income of Ksh4.54 billion.
Imarisha DT Sacco grew its total assets by 14.48 percent to Ksh28.14 billion, the second fastest pace among the top 10, with deposits of Ksh20.51 billion, gross loans of Ksh23.60 billion and total income of Ksh4.68 billion.
Afya Sacco recorded total assets of Ksh21.95 billion for the year, moving from Ksh22.79 billion in 2024, with a loan book of Ksh10.92 billion, deposits of Ksh16.35 billion and total income of Ksh1.52 billion, reflecting a year of consolidation for the Sacco.
United Nations DT Sacco held total assets of Ksh19.67 billion, with deposits of Ksh15.08 billion, gross loans of Ksh14.20 billion and total income of Ksh2.39 billion.
Rounding out the the top ten list, Hazina DT Sacco closed the year with total assets of Ksh18.71 billion, a growth of 10.91 percent, deposits of Ksh13.99 billion, gross loans of Ksh13.23 billion and total income of Ksh2.28 billion.
